Guest guest
I had such bad pains in my heart that I went to ER today. I was there for 8 hours. I called my Cardiologist early this morning and he told me to get there, he wanted to have me monitered and get a cat scan of my chest. They performed all of the tests and I had to get morphine because the pain was so bad. The doctor thinks it is the costochondritis that is causing all of the pain. Please. let me know if the RP can cause this much pain in the sternum area! It is a very bad pain and have any of you experienced this. Thanks, Sharon

Had all kinds of heart tests done in Spokane. They do all the tests and never find a thing wrong with my heart. This was all before my dx. Now I am sure that the reason for the pain was because of the chondritis from the RP. I still get the pain now that I am being treated for RP, but it isn't as bad as it was before. Guest guest
Sharon, I too have ended up in the hospital and ER's MANY times because of chest pains. My heart always checked out okay. They said mine was a mixture of RP and fibro. Mine does pass. I asked the rheumy on Thursday what was going to happen when they saw through my sternum to do the valve surgery. He said it would probably start a flare, big time. They are going to give me " stress steroids " before the surgery and for a few days after. This will be a larger dose, he said my adrenal glands wouldn't be able to handle the stress of surgery without them. Also said I have the best of the best for a heart surgeon. So, looks like i'm in good hands. Did they try increasing your pred to see if that would help? Hope you are feeling better now. Let me know. hugs
