Problems with BTVC Vanilla Candy recipe

I tried to make this today and it never froze. According to the

recipe, you freeze the mixture and then crack it into pieces. After

being in the freezer all day, mine is still really goopy. Definitely

not crackable. I am trying to prepare a few sweet treats to give to

neighbors to pass out to my kids on Halloween. I was hoping to use

this one. Anyone had luck with this recipe? Any tricks to share?
