Guest guest
hello everybody! it has been almost 5 mo since i danced in durham. congratualations to all of you who have crossed over recently. may your experience be half as good as mine and you will be grateful everyday! on may 3 of this year i weighed 393# and my life was really not so great. every day i felt the increasing strain of my weight as i tried to struggle through the day to work, and take care of my family. my two small children had never seen me play very much. a few swings on the gymset was about all i could manage without giving out of breath. today, just nearly five short months later i have lost 93#!! How different my life is already. I am wearing mostly size 22 clothes- down from 30/32. Very fitted pants still take a 24 but that size is much more available. i have a lot of energy. yes there are days when i am tired and sluggish but those days are usually when i am losing several pounds at once. i can work, come home and " do the second shift " as well as factor in quite a bit of play time with my girls. our fun now includes walks, playing outside (with mom going down the slide!), and just hanging out without me giving out of breath.how many special moments i have captured just because i could walk an extra 30 feet to see the wildflowers, butterflys, etc. 5 mo ago i could barely move much less LIVE! My family and i just returned from vacation in gulf shores. i walked on the beach, swam, caught sunrises, shopped and stayed so active.then we ended our days by crabbing on the beach at night. 5 mo ago i would have been a slug on the couch avoiding all the activities because i could not have kept up. ask me what my life is worth today. i have not followed all of the recent problemson the site but i am glad to note that the problem makers have been booted. this surgery is not for everyone. it is for folks who are out of options. it saved my life and yes, it still takes a committment from you to work- it is not always a passive process. it is unfortunate that a bitter few can try to cause division for the newbies who so obviously have come to a crossroads in their life -or they would not be on this site. i think dr. rutledge has been more than frank about the entire process, start to finish. this is his domain- he built it, he works it, if you decide it is not the way for you then fine- move on, get over it. don't try to destroy what may be the only hope for others! ok off my soap box. next update- some of you may remember i had insurance difficulties post op. bcbs refused to pay after precerting the process based on an exclusion that i had never seen and was not in the handbook. they denied twice after paying the hosptial even! then they took the money back from durham reg med center. i got an attorney and stated my intent to file suit and launch a public awareness campaign in tn. i found out last week all of my expenses (percentage insurance was responsible for) have been paid! Hang in there yall, never give up if you want it. gotta run. more later. i plan to get back into keeping up a little more. please forgive my absence- i have been rediscovering my life!! kimberly bergin mgb 5/3/00 -93# next poster child for the robert rutledge mgb.! Guest guest
Hi Littermate! Can you believe its been only 5 months since I slowly hobbled into your room at Durham Regional and introduced myself? It seems like a lifetime ago, doesn't it? I heartily agree with everything you said in your post. I have lost about the same amount of weight - I only weigh in every few weeks - and feel wonderful. Life is a joy now instead of day to day existence. Sounds like you are doing well and I'm sure your family loves the difference! Keep in touch!
