Guest guest
<<Elaine's daughter resumed a standard diet and has been fine with it for years. >> Yes, but just as a note to anyone out there reading this message... do remember that Elaine's daughter was on SCD for SEVEN years as a child. This *may* have increased her chances for successfully reintroducing a standard diet and having no recurrence of symptoms. It's hard to know. Guest guest
When Judith went to college she ate some rice and symptoms came back I recall Elaine telling us. And Judy didn't eat the rice anymore. I thought that I would go back to eating the [sAD] Standard American Diet but changed my thinking after talking with Elaine Gottschall. I began to think: " Why go off a diet that made me feel well? " So I have stayed on the SCDiet and I will for life. Till the doctors find a cure which they have for those that are going to have surgery I have been told. Those of us who are doing well on the SCDiet will not get the treatment. The ones having surgery will get the cure first for Crohn's Disease. My story with Crohn's Disease http://www.scdiet.net/testimonial.html HAD A SET BACK AFTER MY HUSBAND DIED I was under a lot of stress. I kept having symptoms even though I was SCD legal... eating raw fruits and veggies. I figured out that I needed to go back to cooking the fruits and veggies, got Digest Gold Enzymes, Lyo-san caps and of course the good 24 hour yoghurt. I was soon back to my normal self of feeling great again. ________________________________________ Loving Care,Grammy Gay IBS-1930, IBD-1984, SURGERY-1988, CD-1994, SCD-1997, REMISSION-1998, NO-MEDS. I finaly tried SCD last year, but I really, " realllly " cannot tolerate dairy. It turns me into a shivering mass of anxieties, muscle weakness, and other weirdness for which I have no name. Last time I tried I was fired from a new job that I desperately needed and wanted. Now it's a year later, I've been trying to make a living on my own by doing web development, but this summer, thanks to faulty power and heatwaves, I lost almost 2 months of work, and then clients, thanks to having all my computer blow up on me, piece by piece. Th estress just eventualy floored me, and I'm finally now doing better again. So, what I'd like to know is, How could I try SCD, knowing I'm most certainly affected by Celiac, and cannot tolerate dairy whatsoever. : ( Are there sub-diets I do not know about? Links to websites, if so, would be really appreciated.. Thanks a lot nomad , but no happy either
Guest guest
Many people on this list begin SCD without the dairy, due to previous intolerance. It's okay to do that, but you need to use an SCD legal acidophilus supplement to repopulate the gut with good flora. When you tried SCD before, you may have added the dairy too soon.... for you. Possibly, if you had remained on all SCD legal foods, minus the dairy, long enough... you might have had enough gut healing to be able to introduce it. For some people, when they introduce the SCD yogurt, it triggers more die-off.... which *might* have been what you experienced. If you've been reading this list for any length of time, or have read the www.pecanbread.com website, even though it's geared toward children with autism, you'd have noticed that many are doing dairy-free SCD. You don't HAVE to do the dairy. Patti Re: 2 yrs on SCD ??? That sounds so god, I mean, knowing what to do and feeling better.. Guest guest
Yes I think you're right, I'm due for a re-read of many things. One of the effects of dairy is to make me totally stupid, I can;t put 2 and 2 together anymore. I think that I may have gone nuts with the yogurt last year. It gave me such energy at first that I think I'd eat a liter (quart?) a day to begin with. Thanks Gerard > Many people on this list begin SCD without the dairy, due to > previous intolerance.
