Guest guest
Amy, My 5 month old had the same thing! We thought that he had developed blisters from the band because there was discharge that was yellowish and very smelly. We got our band on a Thursday, his head was getting redder each hour and finally the redness wouldn't disappear on Saturday morning. We kept him out of the band until we went back to the doctor on Tuesday and continually put hydrocortizone cream on his head. The cream really did help along with continually washing his head. On Tuesday when we went in CT said it was heat rash-I'm not sure that is correct-but we were to start putting the band on and taking it off every 3-4 hours again. We did this and continued with the cream each time-letting it dry before putting the band on. We did this for about a week to ensure the redness wouldn't come back and now he has no irritation to the band. Good luck! Arizona Doc Band 2 weeks > > My 7 month old daughter just got her DOC three days ago. Unfortunately, we live in an area that is in experiencing a heat wave and she almost immediately developed a heat rash. I was concerned on the second day so I took her into CT and they told us her skin still looked okay and just to move ahead with wearing the band 23 hours. Today when I picked her up from daycare (which is air conditioned), the rash had spread and gotten significantly worse in the span of six hours since I had dropped her off. I took off the band and let it breath for a while- it is definitely seriously irritated and has a moist " weepy " appearnce for lack of a better word. I put her to bed without the band tonight b/c it looked so bad. By the time I saw it, CT was closed for the long weekend and I will not be able to contact them for the next three days. Any advice out there?!! I'm not sure what to do as far as putting the band back on. > > I would appreciate any help! > Amy > mom to 7 months >
Guest guest
Thanks - That is exactly the same thing my daughter developed, the yellow discharge with a strong odor. I have kept the helmet off for the almost 48 hours now and the spots seem to be drying out and getting sort of a scaly dryness. I also have been using the hydrocortisone which also seems to be helping too. Were the spots completely gone when you started putting the helmet back on? I'm thinking that she might be healed enough to start again tomorrow. Thanks again for taking the time to respond! Amy > > > > My 7 month old daughter just got her DOC three days ago.
