Guest guest
Hi-- In my opinion, banding at four months is a great decision, and that is when we made the decision to band. The reason is that they are growing quickly at that age, and with a good growth spurt (depending on the severity) the plagio can be resolved. That is why they say it's only 6- 8 weeks in the DOC band when they start at four months and 8-10 when they start at 5 months. When you wait to band, it takes more time for the head to re-shape, because their head is growing slower. I do not think that fear of regression would be a reason to not band at four months, especially with the tort almost resolved. If you keep up te treatment for the tort, there is no reason that it can't be resolved or nearly resolved in the 2-month time. Also, while your little one may not be crawling when he/she gets the band off, it is likely that if you contine to work on tummy time, sitting, rolling, etc. that your LO will be off of their head quite a bit when they get out of the helmet. You are very lucky to have found your way to treatment early on, and I'm sure that many wish that they would have been given the option of banding at 4-months.
