Guest guest
Fred, I am so sorry that the neuropathy is causing you such pain. It is very hard to deal with. I had a really bad time before they put me on the Elavil. Unfortunately, Elavil doesn't work on most people. I just happen to be one of the ones it does work for. A neurologist who deals with pain definetly sounds like what you need. I wish you were out where I am as my pain management doctor is a neurologist and I could refer you to him. Unfortunately, I live in CA. Have you tried calling your insurance company for a l ist of pain doctors in your area? I know that most insurance companies have such lists and it might help you get the help you need. You could also call the state medical board for a list of pain doctors in your area. I wish I could help ease your pain. Kimber -- Kimber Vallejo, CA hominid2@... Note: All advice given is personal opinion, not equal to that of a licensed physician or health care professional. Guest guest
Fred, I am so sorry to hear of your problems with finding an adequate pain management from the doctors you are currently seeing for your pancreatitis. Have you tried going to a teaching hospital/clinic, someplace affiliated with a University? I have found out that they are the best with dealing with illnesses such as what we have and are more apt to know the latest in treatment. They are more up-to-date with this illness and what it takes to affect meaningful relief from the effects of this illness. It wasn't until I went to Tulane Medical Center in new Orleans did I even get a diagnosis for what I had been suffering with for, at the time, 25 years. It was also the 1st time I was given adequate treatment for it too. Once again, I am so sorry to hear of your current problems with getting the necessary pain meds to control your symptoms. However, I don't think you will be able to get the relief you seek unless you try this avenue of treatment. Guest guest
Fred, You need to be totally honest with your physician who specializes in opiates. He is only asking questions to figure out how to control your pain. I know sometimes the questions are embarrasing but he is a physician so he's probably heard all kinds of things. Did you say that you were on Elavil? What strength do you take? My GI doc has increased mine to 75mg at bedtime. It has helped tremendously. Guest guest
Fred, don't worry about complaining. We all need to do it from time to time. That's part of the reason this board is for. I'm sorry the elavil didn't work for you. Evidently, it doesn't work for a majority of people with neuropathy. I just happen to be one of the rare persons that the stuff works on. Have you seen a neurologist about the neuropathy? I know that's the type of doctor I saw for mine. I hope you can find a compassionate doctor who can help you deal with this problem. Guest guest
Yes, I am so sorry I get so mixed up confused and can't remember a thing. I take so many pain pills, antidepresents, and sleeping pills don't work I can't sleep at nite. the pill gives me energy usually. I itch all over My face looks so bad I am afraid to go outside my arms I pick until I have holes its bad I know I am so depressed with this PC I don't know if I am coming or going. I have a surgery coming up in Sept 1st to put my pump hose back in it fell out at the spine. I don't know if you know about morphine pumps, sometimes they help and sometimes the get too high and cause another side effect. Patty, I am so sorry I am rambling on. I am very tired of this and don't know how much longer I can deal with this. I have no job anymore can't do it. I had my own business for 17yrs doing houscleaning. it was good money and we could sure use it now. Well I guess I am venting also so sorry you had to listen. thanks for correcting me. Guest guest
Pain can be just abdominal pain. Just hurts. Inconsistency is the biggest problem. Cant always relate what I ate that might have caused digestion problem. Then I get very anxious, feeling I cant manage the abdominal pain. Example: I ate turkey from Fresh Market, and then had pain next day, not great digestion, but not too bad. Had to guess it was preservatives in the turkey. I usually do well eating meat and vegetable, some fresh fruit. The hot weather doesnt help. I wake up in pain, sometimes alleviated by going to bathroom, but that could be up to two hours after I wake up. Dont want meds, want to control what I eat better. Thank You! Is there such a thing as too much protein? > >Not looking for pain drugs,I know side effects > >?Any thoughts on managing pain, > >and being discouraged when in pain? > >Does heating pad of hot water bottle, bath? help anyone > > What type of pain?
