,

Thanks so much for writing about the importance of checking your

glucose levels. I know that I have read about it on this site for

the past 6 months. Sometimes I would think " maybe I will get a

monitor at Walmart and test once a week " . But I always kept putting

it off. I don't know why, but today something just sunk in. I just

wanted to thank all the people on the board who keep posting about

this topic over and over. Sorry it took me so long to REALLY

listen, but I am heading out shopping today and I will put this on

my list to buy.

Thanks again everyone for your important messages and information.

Kris,

Glad to hear that you are going to do this. You may not know but if you

ask your doctor to rx this for you, most insurance companies give you a

free BG meter. I can have a new one every 2 years. Try that before

spending the money first.

Also, since my readings were off and it turned out to be hypothyroid I

have taken medication for it for a week now. I have noticed not as much

fatigued. It's still there but some of it does come from the pain that

we experience with our pancreas. I am not losing as much hair

anymore....YAHOO! and I still do a reading twice a week. I am still

reading as low as 74 after eating, but my doctor says thats nothing to

worry about. My thyroid meds may not have kicked in as good yet.

Check with your PCP to see if you can get a free BG monitor from your

insurance before you buy one.
