Guest guest
There are several things you could try... Is he on albuterol and saline breathing treatments? Run them more often. Give him a couple at night while he is asleep. What about a nice steamy bath with 's Baby Vapor bath (the green bottle). I pull the cutain closed when we give one of these to get it nice and steamy. This opens Patti (3 wcf) up quite a bit. We had to stop tilting the bed as she always ended up the other way around. :-) Instead we give her an angled pile of pillows to sleep on, or she will sleep propped up on the arm of the couch, or my arm if she ends up in our bed. Guest guest
All this can be aggravated by Gastro Esophogeal Reflux Disease or GERD, and most with cf have it from an early age--might be good to check it out! Love to all coping or trying to coper with this! n Rojas a.m. congestion--any suggestions? > My 31 month old boy Ashton has been waking up very congested. Guest guest
Sounds like guaifenesin would help him a lot. Get the generic form of plain Robitussin -- it lists only guaifenesin as the active ingredient. You need to drink lots of water to help it work, but it thins mucus throughout the entire body, not just nose and lungs. Kim > My 31 month old boy Ashton has been waking up very congested. Guest guest
Sorry you are having a rough time. Especially with all that sheet-washing! Have you tried a saline spray for the nose that might loosen the stuff up and get it out rather than dripping in the back of the throat? I usually do this with (now 7 so at least he has the nose-blowing thing down now!) and also sit in the steamy bathroom tub and massage his nose (up high on the bridge). Wish I had better advise. Best of luck, Lenora >My 31 month old boy Ashton has been waking up very congested. He >doesn't really have enough to " blow " out or suck out with a bulb >syringe.
