We know that the surgery will fail to produce adequate weight loss in a certian number of patients. All types of weight loss surgery have failure rates. Revision rates for most reports range from 5-36%. So far we have revised 6 for to much weight loss and 3 for additional weight loss (One who had already lost ~200 lbs). 9 revisions / 874 patients = ~1% revision rate. See: http://clos.net/compare-mgb/mgb-bpd01.htm http://clos.net/compare-mgb/mgb-lagb01.htm If it is #2 we should know in 3-6 more months (she will not lose more) and we could easily do a revision. We did a revision the other day and it took 45 minutes, that is easier than for any other type of surgery. RR Rutledge, M.D., F.A.C.S.
