YES, It will be said by most ...IT wonderful .. The earlier you start it ,

the better they will be as they grow & they will be able to be adjusted to

their growth , so that isn't a problem. Her treatments will be more even for

her & you sure will be better . Let her see & feel it & even you put it on

, have films, books, toys etc for her to do/see .Make it a special movie

time or whatever makes her happy. Just plan that as a special time .You will

get lots of tips from the vest folks as well as the list folks here. they

have been there & done that sooooooooooooo enjoy. My granddaughter does that

& it has kept her well She is now 19+ 7 skiing as I write, up in mountains

of N.C. GO FOR IT!!

Love & hugs, grandmomBEV

HI Robin,

My daughter got her vest last spring and we think it is great!!!! still

complains about doing it some but it is much better than fighting her to get

manual percussion done. We used to have to wrestle her down for PT, now we just

have to put the vest on her. We always sit with her and tell stories or watch

tv. How old is you daughter?

I hope this helps you make your decision.

The vest is fantastic. SOOOOO easy. My 2 yr old hated it at first

so we started by just putting it on him without turning it on. Then

slowly progressed up to 20 minutes. Now he loves to do it since it

means watching Sesame Street. It is great since my husband and I can

start the vest up and get things done around the house. Saves us a

lot of time and stress.

I don't know how old your daughter is, but my grandaughter got hers a few months

ago and she is 8 and loves it. When she stays with me she knows exactly how to

do it! The thing is a little bit of hassle to travel with as we hauled it to

Hawaii this summer, but made it fine as a carry on. Other than everone asking

what it was! The vest seems to do a great job ashas been working fine for Kati.

She seems to not mind it as bad as mom doing it. Good luck, but I think she'll

love it! Debbie

Robin,

And a merry christmas to you also!I got Tyler the vest when he was

about 5 or so, i'm not too sure, he was young though.(Well, he still

is, he'll only be 9 in March), but what a Godsend!!I had no idea all

that time i was doing it by hand it probably wasn't even very

effective. It gives ty a sense of independence and control(BIG,BIG kid-

with-cf issue!).I've moved it more times than i could count, but

thats the beauty of it, they can do so much while doing the vest.He

plays on his computer, plays his plaaystation or gameboy, can play

cards, lots of things.AND, iit frees ME up a little.PLUS i know its

getting done right.Wouldn't have it any other way.Thank goodness for

whomever thought of that wonderful idea!

Welcome to the list by the way!

Hi Robin,

My daughter (19 wcf) has had the Vest since she was 13. It has been a

good thing for her. Her PFT's have only declined a small amount. It gets

difficult to do cpt on kids when they get older and this way she can do her

breathing treatments and Vest at the same time. so I am voting yes, but I don't

know how old your daughter is. I know people who have kids 2 and up with vests

so it is for just about everyone.

love,

M

Hi everyone,

I have some questions about the vest as well.

We've from Australia and I have never seen or heard about this vest until I

read your e-mails. Are they available throughout the world?

Are they really expensive?

What age can they be started?

At the clinic the physio said she had been to a conference overseas and they

don't use chest percussion like we do here with little ones. She said they

were using exercises on a big blow up ball. I volunteered to come in so they

could teach the others and learn the new techniques but that was over 6

weeks ago and I can't seem to get anyone motivated. WHat a waste of money to

go and not bother to share the new information with anyone. Does anyone know

anything about this?

Jack went into the clinic last week and was really well - lungs are still

clear, weight gain is good. Which is just terrific.

The vest is great. Its is greatest invention since sliced bread! I love

it!!!!!! The vest company employs the NICEST PEOPLE!!!!!!!!

Its effective, productive (no pun intended) and EXPENSIVE!!!!!!!!!!! Make

sure you have a DME rider... (durable medical equipment)...........

Its funny, i never even knew about the vest until i had crippled

childrens to cover what medicaid did not, all the sudden the vest

came out of nowhere and saved my life(so to speak). The co who gave me

the vest said it runs $15,000, and they used to call all the time to

check #s on the back to make sure he was using it like he was

ordered, if not they said they would come take it back. That like i

said was a few years back, and they dont call anymore, havent forr

quite awhile.Hope you can get your hands on one, they really are

great!
