Guest guest
Heidi, I have just had chiro treatments for a sciatic nerve, as do my mum & stepdad. Also another thing you can try is a frozen bag of peas on the sore areas..10 minutes on, an hour off, 10 mins on, hour off and so on. That might help also..I use the frozen peas because they will mould to your body contour..just need to bash them on the kitchen counter to loosen them all up from being stuck together first.. Else,I can't think of anything except more chiro manipulation..unless you can see an acupuncturist.
Guest guest
I too have had problems with sciatia many times, even before the dreaded symptoms of pancreatitis ever occurred. I was taught by another nurse to do a few exercises that really help me every time I feel that burn in the buttocks area. If you are willing to try them, it is your choice, they are easy and do not take more than 5 minutes to complete. I lay on the bed to do them, it's to hard for me to get on the floor anymore. Lay on your back, spread your arms out like your going to make a T, bring the right leg over the left slightly rolling your body to the left ( you will feel the space where the sciaic nerve runs pull and open up) and that is what this exercise does it free that nerve in the space. It should look like you are laying on your back slightly rolling over but your leg should be over the other leg ( boy I wish I could sent you pictures it would be so much easier) the knee is somewhat bent,( of the leg you are putting over the other one) hold it there for about 3-5 seconds and repeat 5 times for each leg. I do it maybe 2 times a day when it hurts, when I wake up and when I go to bed. This had never failed me or my husband whenever when have had sciatica. If you have questions e-mail me, when my husband gets home, he has a little video thing ( I am not into computer stuff, but he is) maybe I could get him to tape it and send it to you, all I can do is ask him. I hope this helps, it is harder to explain that actually do. Oh, yea the worst thing for sciatica is sitting, long car rides make it worse.
