Tami,

I was in the same situation, since I lead Worship at our church. My

pastor just asked people to pray for me that I was " going to be having

surgery the next week " . Most people don't ask, " What kind of surgery are

you having? " For those you who do and you want to tell, then feel free.

For those you don't want to say anything to, just say, " I really don't want

to talk about it right now, Perhaps I can share it with you later; however

it is elective surgery I've chosen to have and I really do appreciate your

prayers on my behalf! " There will always be some who will ask or

speculate, but don't be worried about them. Just be sweet and thank them

for their concern. They usually mean well. I was selective about who I

told before the surgery, because, like you say, there are so many who will

offer you other suggestions and try to deter your mission!!! We all need as

much prayer as we can get.

God Bless you in your surgery!
