My one Doctor said he thought it was due to dehydration. Vicki, Your doctor is right. The only time I've had a thick white coating on my tongue was a year ago when my body was going into diabetic ketoacidosis. Although I was drinking tons of water, because of the ketoacidosis, I was losing it all. I was so dehydrated that when I went into the hospital and was put on IV hydration, I put on7 pounds overnight. I'm not saying you're sick like I was, just that you apparently are lacking in adequate daily water consumption. You should be drinking a minimum of 64 ounces of water daily if your weight is around 125. For each pound over that, you should be drinking 1/2 ounce of water. I hope this helps. Guest guest
Vicki, I got it during one of my hospital visits. I thought it was thrush caused by the medications, but my PCP told me it wasn't. It eventually went away a few days after I got home. Thinking about it now, I got it a few times during attack when I was hospitalised...guess it could be just another symptom.
