Guest guest
Hi Lorilyn, Thanks so much for your post! I'm in Orange County. I made my first batch from Straus yogurt and after reading your email I checked and it had bifidus bacteria. AHHH! I used the cream top milk from Trader Joe's It was the only organic whole fat milk. I thought whole fat would be better. Is that a mistake? I think I will try it again. I don't recall seeing Fage yogurt there. But, I will head back a third time and see. It's hard to read the labels with three young kids. -Jill > > Have it in front of me, purchased at Trader Joe's: " Fage Total Authentic Greek Yogurt. " Also says " strained yogurt " and " grade A all natural. " " Ingredients: Grade A pasteurized milk and cream, live active yogurt cultures (l.bulgaricus, s.thermophilus.) " Made in Greece and imported so guess it could be found anywhere...www.fageusa.com It tastes like I think yogurt should but I don't really know what Greek style means. This is creamy, more like homemade than supermarket yogurts. But then, I did buy the whole fat (the higher the fat, the lower the casein, I figured! besides, I am trying to stop two yogurt-loving non-autistic kids from losing any more weight on SCD.) With Fage as the starter, I have made goat yogurt (with milk from TJ's), full-fat cow's yogurt (with Organic milk from various markets), and French Cream (with Organic Valley half and half, I think from Albertson's) and all turned out well but the goat yogurt is still thin (I drain it for mock chevre.) > > Where in southern CA are you? We are in Temecula, and I don't know of anyone doing this diet here. (But then, I hardly knew anyone doing gfcf, and that didn't stop me....) > Lorilyn > Re: Tapioca and pectin in yogurt-is this legal? > > > Thanks Lorilyn! Do you know what greek style yogurt is?
