Guest guest
Hi- we're at day 20 and my eldest son (7yr/asd) is really struggling, his stomach gets so hard and bloated after eating only a part of his meals that he can't eat enough. He has lost 2 -3 lbs. since we started and is at 40 lbs. now. Behavior has really deteriorated this past week. He can't keep it together, perhaps due to chronic hunger. He was eating all kinds of foods (squash, scrambled eggs, etc.) he never would have tried before scd. Now he is having lots of problems with texture, gagging. His stools were just beginning to look healthy. Now they are more frequent and coming out very thin (not runny). He was given major antibiotics this past January for H. pylori. I couldn't put him through that again, not so soon so have not re-tested. He did not seem to tolerate the applesauce (homemade). He is still forcefully clearing his throat, almost constantly yet has no nasal drip or runny nose. We're at stage one, with the addition of the following stage 2 foods: butternut squash, acorn squash, avocado. Our computer is doing strange things so I don't know if we'll have this support much longer. You are a great group of people and we pray for all on this list every night. We are asking for prayers. The school district has sent a wonderful home teacher for our son to help until he gets strong enough to return to school. He has just been so ill these past couple months that it was better for him to try and get stronger until after Thanksgiving and then we will try half days till after Christmas. But I'm losing hope if he loses weight. Everytime he gets sick he gets these awful mouth and throat sores and then he loses weight again. Yet he was losing weight before we started this. We've been to pediatric GI to tell about our concerns and trying scd. He offered to scope and we said no thanks. Told the doctor soy gave exzema and serious constipation and we were given a big bottle of Lactulose (laxative) and told to give him soy because it is good protein source and give laxative twice a day to counteract. We never gave it and scd has cleared up the constipation. Prayer and this diet are all we have to hang onto now. Our 4 yr old/nt daughter has lost a couple lbs and still has dark circles under eyes. Stools are very soft. 22 mos old/asd son still has mushy poops but the smell is much healthier and he has PUT ON 3 lbs and grown in height and is eating really well and sleeping well, too. All are getting probiotics and charcoal and epsom soaks. Thank you,
