There are many causes. Go to Google.com and look up atelectasis subsegmantal. There are quite a few sites there. I had a high density CT scan and it showed something like this. Wish I had the report to see exactley what it said. Mine was caused by the RP. In my case there is some fibrosis or something in the small air sacs in the lower lung.
