Guest guest
Sherry, That post took guts, and it was well said and polite.Which we could use more of on this list(IMHO).I hate that this surgery has not work for you.I am trying to maintain objectivity about the MGB.It seems as if by the time you struggle a lifetime with the weight and its stresses, both physical and mental, then you have surgery that works for you,it as if you have been saved, literally, from death, despair, humiliation, prejudice, poor health and immobility. You can't help but believe that it is the best thing going for anyone and everyone obese. But the MGB is not for everyone and there are those it won't work on.It is reasonable that those, whom have been saved, have a hard time believing it would not work for others,if only they would somehow CHANGE what they eat or if they'd just exercise.(Wait a minute, isn't that how non-obese people treat me now.)The bottomline is DrR SAYS this will not work for everyone, that some will have leaks, and that you may die,and that you may have some side affects pretty devastating to your general health for the rest of your life.So WHY,for goodness sake, can the SAVED not seem to have compassion for the ones who REALLY tried, risked it and for whatever reason the procedure failed. Is 'WELL,YOU KNEW THE RISKS'a compassionate response for someone who must be DEVASTATED and does not know what they did to have it not work.Sherry you have done NOTHING WRONG.I for one am sorry that the MGB has not worked for you.If ever you need someone who will listen without PREJUDICE,feel free.I would like to see a little compassion from a group that seems to pride themselves in their comraderie.Whatever happened to " there but for the grace of God,go I " .If you really think about it,I think that is the most appropriate response anyone post-op could have.Or at least I will pray that you seek that level of response.
