Guest guest
I was having a very hard time sleeping last night. My left ear (again) was burning and very painful. It hasn't blown up (yet) but it has strange noises in it. The noises started yesterday but I tried to ignore it because the pain was mostly in my left side of my sternum. This is still going on from when I was in ER all day Thursday. Now, my left ear is burning and hot to the touch. I am all the way down to 2 and a half milligrams of pred every other day. I have been going down for a long time but I don't think this is working. Do any of you hear noises in the ear that is burning and painful? Should I go up on my pred? Thanks and Love, Sharon

No one seems to think anything of it. Again the same therory, " if your ear isn't red outside, you are okay " . Well we all know that isn't true. If you have the burning, red and swollen ear, it sure sounds like a flare to me. I think you need to call our doctor. It sure seems like you came down off the pred fast (but I probably have you confused with someone else. ) How much were you on before and how long have you been on pred? I need to keep a list. LOL I too have control with my pred. You should ask your dr about it. You know better than anyone else if a flare is coming. At the first sign, I up my pred to the lowest possible dose that I think will take care of it. Then get back down to my reg dose when the flare is gone. Please have it checked. You don't want this turning into a major flare. Let me know, we worry about you. hugs
Guest guest
, I was down to 10mg for a week then 5mg for a week then down to 2 1/2 mg for a week and last week 2 1/2 mg every other day for a week. I just took my last one 2 1/2 mg pred yesterday. Is this too fast to go down? I think maybe I should just up it again but I wonder why I hear thumping and strange sounds in the ear that is burning on the outside but not swollen (yet) Oh and I worry about you and the great people in this group too Love, Sharon
Guest guest
Sharon, how long have you been on pred? If it has been long term then that is most definately too fast. (In my opinion). If you are having sternum pain, it could be a rib flare. Please check with your dr and let him know you are not doing well. I have no idea what the noises are. I think someone else in the group mentioned this, I hope they can give you some answers. hugs
