Guest guest
does anyone have a more comprehensive list of illegal & legal ingredients that i can copy and take with me to the stores. i have been dragging my btvc book in with me and never seem to be able to find the page where it talks about what you can and can not use. i am also having a problem wondering which brands to buy so i waste alot of time reading ingredient labels then i am still not sure so i just walk out of the store upset. for example, i just wanted peanut butter & apple cider. if i had a list of acceptable brands then i wouldn't be so afraid to buy what i need. i have twin 4 mos old girls and don't have time to go back through all the posts and compile a safe shopping list so i would really appreciate any assistance. i went to 3 stores today and only bought fresh honey with nothing added. i wanted the coconut oil but couldn't believe it was $15 plus i wasn't sure if it was really legal. it is day 3 for my 2 1/2 yr old and he is still on strike. he pushed the scrambled eggs away this morning. i used extra virgin olive oil to cook them in. is extra virgin olive oil legal? Guest guest
Olive oil is legal, but butter is too. I can get coconut oil for about $7.50. I don't use it very often. Usually, I reserve it for pan frying something. I mostly use olive oil, and now butter since I know that my son can tolerate cow dairy. You can use Smucker's brand all natural peanut butter. Make sure that you get the all natural though. It has only peanuts and salt. There are other brands, I'm sure. I wouldn't even take the time to read the label unless it says all natural. Even then, still make sure that onlky peanuts and salt are listed as ingredients. I can't tell you a legal brand of apple cider because I drive a couple of hours up to a local orchard to buy gallons and gallons to put in my deep freeze. Elaine's web site has a legal/illegal list that you could print out, but it's mostly just different foods. It doesn't give any brand names. It's hared at first, I know, and frustrating, too.
