Glad to see that you are safe. I am so sorry that your house took a

hit from the hurricane.

I'm so sorry about your home, but I hope you do have good insurance

coverage that will pay for it's replacement or repair? The most important thing

is that you are safe, that truly is the only blessing behind it all. Their was

such

a poor judgement call on this storm that it's amazing that you're even alive to

tell us about it.

As a person who lives directly on the water, in a coastal town in Hurricane

Alley, I've been through my share of hurricanes and evacuations. The worst

of my recall was Hugo, which was originally " projected " to hit our area (Hilton

Head Island, Bluffton, Savannah), yet veered at the last moment and hit

ton instead, which is a 2 hour drive further up the coast. We had been

mandatorily evacuated the day ahead, as were the residents of ton,

so fortunately there was very little loss of life. While the destruction to

buildings and the environment was horribly severe....there's only so much that

one can do... at least the people were safe! Since Hugo, we've been

mandatorily evacuated three other times, so three times in 14 years doesn't

seem too bad.

What I don't understand is why y'all weren't ordered to get out of there much

sooner? For those of us who live in hurricane prone areas, our sympathies

have been immense and our understanding of what you've experienced very

personal.

The truth of the matter is that you can replace a house, but you can't replace

your life. I'm so glad to hear that you're alright.
