Guest guest
I have United Health Care and I called their medical management number...got it from the customer service department...and was given a tentative verbal ok with a possible review. They said they would have to speak with Dr. R. on the phone to hear his opinion about my needing this surgery. I have a BMI of about 60 with two co morbids so I don't think that will be a problem. Unfortunately, I think Dr. R. is out of network so I have to pick up those extra costs (20%). I think Insurance companies have different plans for different companies. My union negotiated fantastic benefits. I could get liver and heart transplants if i needed them... but of course, I still haven't heard from the office after I submitted my online form over a week ago...and that's where the rubber meets the road. United Health told me that I have great coverage so there will probably be minimal probs. You really need to call them, check your benefits book (mine only excludes gastric balloon surgery) and see what is specific for your employer. in Denver CO. 350# > Hello all of you wonderful people. Guest guest
Thank you for the input. I will call the medical management number today. I sent my information into the care coordination dept. I haven't heard word back. I will keep you posted though on the status of my approval if you would do the same. I look forward to hearing from you again..... >From: divine_goddess@... >Reply-To: MiniGastricBypass (AT) egroups (DOT) com >To: MiniGastricBypass (AT) egroups (DOT) com >Subject: Re: Insurance company:UnitedHealthCare >Date: Tue, 03 Oct 2000 07:10:50 -0000 > >I have United Health Care and I called their medical management > number...got it from the customer service department...and was given > a tentative verbal ok with a possible review. Guest guest
Check to see what your stop-loss or Maximum out-of-pocket expenses are. You may not end up paying an actual 20%. Guest guest
It's $300 co pay then the first $3000. If costs are reaonable to the area they will pick them up 100% , > > > > > Unfortunately, I think Dr. R. is out of network so I have to > > pick up those extra costs (20%). > >
