Guest guest
In the past few messages I've read several inferences that MRSA is horrible. My 11 month old daughter has had it since she graduated from the NICU. With all the mention of it here, I wonder if there's more about it that I don't know. I guess the bugs that I've been taught to " worry " about are cepecia and PA. Is MRSA included in that list too? What am I missing? Thanks. Guest guest
Donna, MRSA showed up in 's culture last month. It is not as bad as cepacia or PA and according to her doctor, really was nothing to worry about. However, we were told that when you test positive for MRSA you cannot be around anybody who has a chronic illness. This was a concern for me because 's girl scout troop was going to volunteer at the hospital to read to sick kids, and she would not be able to participate. Her church youth group was going to go and visit some nursing homes, and she would not be able to go. Also, we get invited to participate in special events through the YMCA at the hospital ( Thursday she gets to meet the Blue Angels)and if she still had MRSA she would not be able to go, so that is the reason for the celebration. I also read that if a person gets to the point of needing a transplant, and they test positive for MRSA I think its three times in a row, then that person will not be considered a candidate for a transplant. However, in our cases, it is not something we need to lose sleep over. I hope that helps! e
