Guest guest
Hi All, Have not written in awhile. Matteo is on the diet now for 11 months. Up to two months ago he had been progressing well. Although he has never stopped scripting we were happy with some other improvements. We have discovered that fruit is a problem ,we think we had been given him to much watermelon and things started to go backwards. We are trying nystatin again and he is becoming irratable again. Nystatin didn't go over well with him last time because he was in the midst of his first terrible die off and his body was not elimanting the way it should. So we have tried again and I am going slow with the doses and he is tired and irratable, scripting louder and louder. Does any one have any advice?? If friut is an issue with him does it mean the yeast is a larger problem then what showed up on tests?? A little fustrated because he is a limited eater and taking out fruit is upsetting. He is on HMF probiotics ,cod liver oil, milk thistle . He is starting to have a BM every other day instead of every day. Confused as always, Thanks to all, Toni mom to Matteo ASD 41/2 years old Scd since Nov/
Guest guest
Toni, What are the HMF probiotics? I have not heard of that brand. You might not have to take ALL fruit out.... might just need to take a step back and balance things out again. Do you use any natural anti-fungals? Patti Nystatin??? die-off or bad reaction? Guest guest
Dear Toni, IF it appears that the " sweet " in things is feeding the yeast and bad gut guys, go back to the plain and simple introductory start that Elaine describes in her book. These foods are not that sweet and it did the trick for us in getting rid of our daughters thrush. Nystatin never worked this well. Plus the Nystatin caused diarrhea and cramps and set backs. We also used the SCD goat yogurt, and fresh garlic in her soups, known to help in battling yeast. In order to stop the diarreah in the beginning she had to eat intro for 10 long days. Eliane suggests only 2 to 5....but sometimes people do take longer if they are having problems getting the dairreha to stop. She always had a chronic sore throat...and felt lousey. At the end of this week of Elaine's intro, she had no more outward signs of yeast for the first time in her young life. She did have a miserable die off though, and we used the activated charcoal and epson salt soaks. Her tongue was pink again and no longer coated thisck with white. This is when we saw the most improvement in her ASD status. She began to try to talk (never talked before)...smiled more and had better eye contact. Acted less " shy " and we knew then that SCD was going to work in making her more neruotypical. After this we added the banana and the fruit but, made sure that it was peeled and cooked. We also cut the honey way down (Elaine says 1/3)...and watered down her juice and gave more water (Elaine says half and half with water). 7 and a half months out, we still are not able to give her much honey or juice. She also tolerates peeled and cooked better. So you too, may have to Go slow in introducing hard to digest foods. It has not been easy doing SCD, but you too may see some improvement. We can hope. Good luck killing the yeasty beasties...it is a war no doubt!
