I'd have to say that the most obvious issue to me is poor chewing. If he had

chewed the nut well, there would not have been a recognizable chunk in his

stool. So, I'd just be sure to chop them up much finer if he's not able to chew

well, even with reminders. I still have to cue Katera to chew.... and it's

especially tricky if something like a piece of nut is mixed into other foods. If

it's just ONE small pecan quarter or something, I can pretty much supervise her

and control what's going on.... but if things are mixed, she tends to swallow

without chewing well.

Nut pieces in stool

We have given iel pecan halves and a few whole almond here and there in

the last couple of weeks to see how he did with them. I never noticed any

behavior reactions, and no apparent stool reaction...which means c or d for me

since I can't see if undigested food is in his stools. My husband was home

today, and helped iel after he had used the toilet. He said that there was

a piece of undigested nut in the stool. Here's what I'm wondering. I made the

toffee candy recipe from pecan bread, and the vanilla candy recipe from BTVC

yesterday. We were at a party today, and I wanted to be able to give iel

candy since the other kids would be eating pizza, candy, and cake...those poor

kids and parents are destroying their gut and don't even know it. Anyway, could

it be the combination of the nuts and honey or poor chewing that would've caused

the problem? Should I just play it safe and cut out the large pieces of nuts for

another month or so? He does fine with the nut butter and nut flour, but those

aren't large pieces, of course? What does anyone think?

I am going to answer on experience and speculation.

1. iel can be encouraged to chew things thoroughly.

2. I am a texture eater and like things I can bite into. I had dental problems

a few months

ago and also had to prepare for a colonoscope procedure by having irrigation

instead if

taking the laxative. The thrapist noted large pieces of starwberry in the stool.

i was not

chewing my food properly. So that is poosibilty one.

3. It may be linked to the length of time on the diet. Nut pieces are advanced

food.
