Guest guest
Robyn, welcome to the group. It's OK about denial - it will wear off!!!! I remember all those problems running to ER rooms, being hospitalised etc. If it is any consolation I have been much better since I have been dx, its true that ER docs don't have great diagnostic skills, its not what they are there for. They are good at stabilising you in serious conditions and they are pretty good at pain management. But when you know you have a chronic illness you have to work with your docs to find the best combination of meds that suit YOU, which is not necessarily the same as someone else. Someone else was asking about alternative meds. I really think it is important to go with the main stream, especially to begin with. However I do think it is EXTREMELY important to eat healthily. This is in my opinion lots of veggies and fruit, small portions of protein (3 oz at a time) not too much refined carbs, bread biscuits etc. And only occasional treats like cake or desert. I do take a multivitamin, fish oils and acidophulus, all with my rheumy's approval. I also think moderate exercise helps, both with pain, mood, flexibility and breathing. My goal is walk at least 20 mins a day, but more on good days. (Needless to say, I don't always practice what I preach, but if I fall by the wayside I get back on track asap). Welcome to the group, and hopefully improved health!! Love Liz __________________________________________________
