Breastfeeding and DOCband

My son Ellis just got his DOCband yesterday and has been adjusting well so far.

One thing I noticed though is that when I nurse him, he gets red marks from his

band where it's resting against my arm. The redness doesn't arise otherwise, so

i'm assuming it because of pressure being put on these spots while nursing. I'm

curious as to whether others have experienced this and how you handled it? My

MIL was suggesting i remove his helmet while i nurse, but this could easily

surpass the 1 hour break he's supposed to get each day. Will this pass as he

gets adjusted to his band?

Many thanks.

Ophelia (Ellis 5 mo today and day 2 in his DOCband)

If the red marks subside quickly afterward, then I wouldn't worry about it. They're probably just from putting pressure on it. If you're not sure, then call CT, but I wouldn't take the helmet off to nurse or you'll be out of it too much.

Hi Ophelia, Do you have a boppy pillow for nursing? I found that it helped a

lot because it was softer than my arm.

That happened for us, too, but it didn't seem to bother her much, so I leave the

helmet on for nursing. I do use a boppy at home because it's more comfortable

for both of us that way.
