Guest guest
Hello Jean, I have had CP all my life although, when I was younger, I used to have long periods of time in between attacks. I am 58 now. I don't know if this will help. When I was 32 I had major surgery to repair damage caused during the birth of my second son. It was a major repair and I was in hospital for the same time as women undergoing a hysterectomy. I chose a repair rather than a hysterectomy at the time, not because the hysterectomy would have been worse surgery (the doc said it would not have been) but because I might have had further pregnancies. The operation did not have an effect on my pancreatitis. In other words, it did not trigger an attack. The CP attacks (I didn't know at the time that that was what they were) came and went as usual but I didn't have one around the time of that operation. I did, as it happens, have a very bad attack very early on in that pregnancy but not when I was pregnant with my first son. Obviously this is a very different case from your daughter's, from a number of points of view, but I don't think surgery for something else will necessarily have a bad effect on the CP. Indeed, possibly it will make her feel better overall once she recovers from the present problem and the operation itself. I hope that's the case anyway. I do sympathise. As Shirley says, we always have things to worry about with our children. With very good wishes, Fliss (UK)
