3 days Post-Op!!

Hey Everyone! Beware - I feel a long post coming on!

It's Dana! I had my surgery Friday and I am so glad to say it is

behind me!! Kristi Lent and I were supposed to go together but BCBS

of NC had different ideas. I wish she could have been there!

Everything went well, I was nauseated and had the dry heaves Friday

night but it wasn't too bad. My family tells me I said some really

crazy things while still on the pain meds, but hey - who cares? My

energy level is good- and I hope it stays that way. The only thing I

have had trouble with is that patch we have to wear for nausea. It

has affected my vision, when I would try to read the posts or just

read the words would run together. It is getting better by the day!

Everyone on the staff went above and beyond what is to be expected

(Barbara, the nurses, eveyone at the hospital)!! I couldn't have

asked for better care. As I'm sure you already know Dr. Rutledge was

great! He really took his time (with me and my family). That means

so much!

Gloria Dean - what can I say about her? Before Friday I had only met

her in person once at Cattlemans. She helped me with BCBS so much. I

probably would still be fighting with them if it weren't for her!

Plus she came to the hospital Friday night- during my CRAZY time and

stayed with me so my family could go and eat and not worry about me.

She keep a cold cloth on my head and a basin at my mouth plus she

helped me to the all important 1st bathroom trip!! You couldn't ask

for a better friend! She even brought me a sippy cup and some chap

stick. Dr. R needs to look into hiring her! If you are a pre-op I

would seriously look into making friends with her before you get to

Durham!! Just kidding Gloria- I love ya!!

It is so important to go into this thing with your heart open. I

have made so many friends over the past few months. People I that I

probably would have never met otherwise have become treasured

friends! I talked to Beth Brown last night and I told her I am not

going to be able to talk to her for about a week - or at least till I

get these staples out! She cracks me up!! You have got to have a

healthy since of humor to get through this and she does!!

Well, enough of the sappy, mushy, very long-winded emotional post.

This is the first time I have had the time to sit down and thank

eveyone for helping me get to where I am today - 3 DAYS POST-OP!!!!

I thought I would never say that!! I appreciate all the thoughts and

prayers sent my way Friday! Take care everyone!
