Guest guest
My husband and I took Maysa to another check up at CT and after looking at her and feeling her head, her ortho, Amber, told us that she didn't expect Maysa to be in her band for more than 5 to 6 weeks. Remember that she started treatment at 9 and 1/2 months with a CI of 98% (according to Orthomerica) and 96% (according to CT). As much as we know that Maysa has made trememdous progress since she got in her new band + CST, we were not expecting to hear that from her. If she wears it for another 6 weeks, she would have been in it for only 2 and 1/2 months. I expected her to be in it for 4 months. Amber added that her head had been growing/changing faster than babies her age and told us to start thinking about getting her in another band if we wanted to. We have an appointment with them on the 22nd at which point they will be taking progress pictures and measurements. I CAN'T WAIT!!! In the meantime, unless she miraculously gets within normal range AND her head looks round again, I am almost already leaning towards a second band. I just want her to get the best correction she can possibly get. Am I obsessed? Also, have any of you actually noticed the head of their baby with brachy look less wide than before treatment? I can almost swear by looking at Maysa's pictures that in her face shots, her head doesn't look as wide anymore and her ears are not that slanted either... I'll have to post pictures when I get home. Guest guest
>I am so excited and happy for you. CT does perform miracles. If you are even thinking about a second band I would say that in your own minds you are ready to go for it. There is nothing worse than later on pondering " I wish I would have " with no more possible recourse. You are your babies spokesperson. Guest guest
Leila, I wanted to agree with you about the width of the head observation. One of my son's heads was so wide before that it is shocking to see in old pictures, but after only a few weeks in the DOC band I noticed it looking so much more narrow... maybe it's just an optical illusion because the head is growing all over, but even now when I look at him (and he still has some flatness in back) his head just doesn't look near as wide as it did before... both boys still have wider than average foreheads and that may never change (even with the OT) but I'm thankful that we got the correction we did. Best of luck on your upcoming appointment Shenelle Katy, TX > > > My husband and I took Maysa to another check up at CT and after looking at her and feeling her head, her ortho, Amber, told us that she didn't expect Maysa to be in her band for more than 5 to 6 weeks.
