Guest guest
Tyler has just gone in for his 1st tuneup.I saw some yellow, some green, and a LOT of pink signs on peoples doors saying to wear protection, etc. When I asked theyy said the person w/pink sign has msra or mrsa or something like that.Is it b. cepacia???I am very leary of this and had previously expressed my concerns to the cf nurse coordinator, and she told me they dont even have anyone in the hospital w/ it.I feel betrayed, fearful for my son's well-being, and thensome. This is probably brought on more by ignorance than anything else being that I have no info on b. cepacia other than I've learned to stay away from it like a plague. Can it be transmitted in the setting he's in?Does anyone know what those initials stand for?? Please write back soon.My mom is staying w/my son 2nite so I have time to work out some things at home and I have to go back to hospital early in am so I wont have comp. access.Plz help if you can. Guest guest
Hi Patty, MRSA is not B. cepacia. It is Methacillin resistant staph aureus. I don't believe it is as dangerous as B.Cepacia, but it is contagious and harmful to CF patients. When people culture it they are usually put in isolation as far as I know. So you probably don't need to worry about it too much. I hope this helps, M
