Guest guest
My son is taking antibiotics for Lyme and is also a beginner on the SCD diet. Since starting antibiotics a week ago his behavior seems worse and I'm not sure how much is antibiotic and how much is diet. Specifically, he has more giggly, drunken behavior (which I understand is from yeast) and his ADHD-type behaviors have intensified. Are either of these common die-off symptoms in the SCD diet? Or is it a sign that we are not doing the diet correctly, i.e., perhaps he is not getting enough probiotic to repopulate the good bacteria that are getting killed off from the antibiotic? Or ...? mother of Adam (7.9, PDD-NOS, Lyme, asthma, egg allergy, SCD beginner)
Guest guest
, Yes, this behavior is common with die-off. Hard to know whether it's die-off from the diet or from the antibiotic, since you've started both at nearly the same time. Epsom salts baths... or lotion... may help a lot. It could be that much of his probiotic is being killed off by the antibiotic. I'm really not sure. I know it's true with standard antibiotics... maybe this one he's taking is more targeted to specific organisms? Is it a med he has to take long term? Or just for a few weeks? Your probiotic.... is just acidophilus, with possibly s.boulardii? Right? No bifidus? P behavioral die-off symptoms? My son is taking antibiotics for Lyme and is also a beginner on the SCD diet.
