My son also was born with a meconium ileus, but was not diagnosed

until he was 13 months old. You have a great jump on things with

early diagnosis. I would like to add to the advice that others have

given you about insurance. We have a Nurse Case Manager assigned to

Zach's case. She works for the insurance company but knows our

medical history inside and out. I can call and say " this is Sara "

and she says " How's Zach? " . Such familiarity can be a huge relief.

Also, get to know your pharmacist well. Luckily we already attended

church with our pharmacist, but having him watching out for us

really helps also.

You seem to be handling this very well. Just remember that it is

not up to you to fix your son. As a good friend recently told

me, " Zach's body may be broken, but his spirit is whole. " It has

taken me a while to accept that myself.

Sara - mommy of Zach 21 months tomorrow!
