Guest guest
We currently have a Starband and are happy enough but not thrilled. The fit is not great so it has pushed one of our baby's ears out a little. We complained numerous times about it and they JUST fixed it after 16 weeks. They kept telling us that it wouldn't do anything and then we noticed that one sticks out more. That's probably our only complaint. It is on longer than we would have liked but that has to do with Sebastian not having a growth spurt lately. I sometimes wish we would have gotten a docband but the reason we got the Starband was because they are pretty much guaranteed to have one band. Since we are paying out of pocket this was a nice feature. We didn't want to pay for 2 bands if he needed it. I actually think he might grow out of the Starband before we are 100% happy with the results, but think this band has lasted longer than a Docband would have. > Re: Any happy Starband customers? > Date: Wed, 09 Sep 2009 14:47:33 -0000 > > > We had a Starband and were very pleased. > > I think there are lots of other happy Starband people here, > although I agree that lately we've heard more about the Doc band. > My understanding is that the competence of orthotists working with > the Starband may be more variable, so it's good that you checked > references. > > Anyway, my son went from 11mm asymmetry to 0mm in 2.5 months. > There was even a noticeable difference in the first week and at 2 > weeks he was down to 7mm, as I recall. Guest guest
Yes - the passage of time is so weird. has been out of hers for 4 months and wore it for 6 months. It seems like forever since she got it off. Re: Any happy Starband customers? My daughter got her Starband in November and wore it until April. She got great correction, went from 12mm plagio to 5 mm. The only reason we stopped there is she was 14 months old and we didn't think we'd get much more correction in another month of wearing it. We had a great experience with the Starband and our ortho and I would do it again in a heartbeat! When you are in the middle of it, it seems like such an ordeal. But looking back on it even though she only graduated 5 months ago, it seems like a lifetime ago! Good luck! >> My daughter is getting her Starband helmet next week. Many of the posts talk about DOC, are there any happy Starband folks out there? I am comfortable with the person doing our treatment and have checked their references, but any additional info from Starband parents out there would be helpful.>
