Guest guest
Hi Pre-ops, I've been off this list for a few weeks now but I decided to get active with the pre-op list again so that I can help as many of you as possible. I had my MGB 5-31-00 and it only took Dr. R 40 minutes to give me my life back. I have gone from 249 pounds to 197 pounds in four months. I'm out of plus size clothes, my blood pressure is 120/84 without meds, my sleep apnea is gone and my life is getting more active everyday. Dr. R chooses to educate his potential patients so they can make the best decisions in regards to their own lives and health. I did my research and believed in my heart that I found the right answer for me. My PCP is so impressed with this surgery that he has recommended it to his own sister. She is in the process now of obtaining insurance approval. I have another doctor friend that referred another MGB hopeful. I had lunch with her last week and she is well into the approval process. It only validates my own feelings in regards to the MGB when doctors that have known me for years see the magnificent results that Dr. Rutledge is achieving and pay him the highest of compliments and honors by referring their own friends and family for the MGB. Obesity is a killer disease and diabetes and heart disease were knocking at my door. I watched both of my parents die slow agonizing deaths from diabetes and heart disease and they were both normal weight people. Can you imagine what I had in store for me with a BMI of 44.4???????? I made up my mind to take control of my health and with the help of Dr. R I have done just that. I knew the risks were out there but I was willing to take that chance. I have never regretted my decision. I am not about to let someone else rain on my parade either. I am happy, content and thrilled with my surgery. I feel good...I've had no problems.....I can eat anything I want ( Mexican, Italian, American, B-B-Q, beef, pork, bread, some sweets, you name it).....I have lost over 52 pounds and 70 inches in four months. I don't have reflux, nausea or vomiting. I can go out to eat with family and friends and eat anything I want and I feel normal. I just eat a lot less. Men go out of their way to be nice to me and say hi..........something that hasn't happened for quite a while. :-) :-) My ego has been given a tremendous boost. I feel pretty again and I'll be 50 in February. My weight loss has slowed to about 2 pounds a week but that's fine because my skin is looking pretty good. I'll probably have a tummy tuck and boob lift after I lose another 50 pounds. My husband of 28 years is so supportive and says I can get anything fixed that I want fixed. I already have a top notch plastic surgeon lined up in Dallas. I have entered the ME phase of my life and it started with my MGB. For those of you that are unsure or would just like to have a few more questions answered, please e-mail me privately or call me at home day or night at 817/ 577-0919. Remember, we are a family and you will always find the support and positive reinforcement that you need. All you need to do is ask.
