Guest guest
Hello Chrissy, Sorry I'm late posting. I'm a bit behind with some of the posts as I've had a very busy few days. I'm glad your first day is over and you enjoyed so much of it. I'm sorry about the pain aspect. Hopefully this is just an inevitable part of the recovery process and associated with the type of surgery you've had. I know you'll take great care. You need to maintain that day-by-day recovery. I have had only relatively routine gynaecological surgery in the past but I did find that, although there was a daily very slight improvement, the big improvements tended to come in sudden surges, and some were quite some time after the surgery. Hopefully that will be the same for you. I've lost track of the days you have worked or will be working now. What point are you at? Are you able to have good time to relax and take advantage of it in between the work days? I hope you get to the beach to enjoy some warmth and sea. We can't enjoy our garden at the moment as the weather is very cool, wet and blustery just now. talk about " Flaming June " !! Well, England was knocked out of the European Cup by Portugal on Thursday evening. The tension was ludicrously high. There was a funny aspect for me. The match went to extra time. Jim goes out for a drink with buddies on a Thursday evening. They left as usual, planning to see the rest of the match in the pub. Well, I stopped watching at that point but still kept checking the score. Finally it went to a penalty shoot-out. England NEVER wins these so I decided to go upstairs and do some work, thinking I might just as well listen to the bad news afterwards rather than go through the agony of watching! Just at that moment my son phoned from the US where he's been at a conference near NY!! Somebody in his group had got a text message about the penalty shoot-out. His wife was out so he wanted ME to go down to the TV and engage in a combination of commenting on the shoot-out and holding the phone as near to the set as possible! Now, what I know about football (and players) would fit on a postage stamp.....and I mean the old-fashioned small ones not these big new stamps!!!.....so the whole thing was hilarious: " Who's taking the shot Mum? Oh, don't know! Smallish chap with mousey hair. Wait! Oh Owen! Put the phone nearer the telly, Mum! OK! What did you say. Oh Portugal's missed! Please put the sound up! That's as loud as it'll go! Who's taking the next shot? Big bloke. Black hair. Oh, why doesn't the name come on the screen!? Just LISTEN and look at the back of the shirts Mum!! I can't! They're showing him from the front! " And so on! I'm thinking of a career change to sports commentator!! NOT! (I won't tell you what he said when we missed the crucial penalty. You'll just have to try and guess!!) Well, take care Chrissy. Let me know how it's going. With love, Fliss (UK)
