Guest guest
Hi everyone! I am in heaven!! I visited the pain doc a few weeks ago and one of the things he recommended was the duragesic patch. Well after wearing it so far I no longer wake up in the mornings full of pain and trying to play catch up the whole day. (I have tried setting an alarm and waking up to take meds in mid of night, but I wasn't always faithful to it and then of course be full of pain.) He did say I could take the Lortabs on top of the patch for more pain than what the patch handles. But I only had to take Lortab the first day I put on the patch, and life has been so much better ever since. My life has been changed since I visited the pain doc because not only did he help with my pain, but also helped me to understand how your body reacts to pain. My ER is so consumed with people taking pain meds for addiction, and my fears of getting addicted to them that I was beginning to think my body was creating pain to get pain medicine. LOL!! My pain doc said no way your body doesn't work that way and he explained how your body reacts to pain. Little disappointed because I had to come to terms with actually having pain everyday and not being able just to be treated for an addiction. (long term denial!!!) Will keep you updated on how it is working. I feel almost normal again not having to stop during the day because I hurt. I would make sure my pain was at least a 5 before I took anything because I was afraid of becoming addicted, not having a clue of what an addiction to pain meds was. I'm not sure if everyone has the same results as I did with the duragesic, but it is a heaven send to me and wanted to share my excitement in case it will help someone else. One of the things I did notice about the patch was they don't stay on very well for full 3 days, even hardly doing anything. I think someone recommended you could call company for something to help that?? Wishing you all pain free days! Angie B p.s. Kris- As far as the itching, so far the Lortab makes me itch worse than the patch, and I'm not sure if it increases nausea because the doc also put me on Aleve (anti-inflammatory) which does upset my stomach. He said if it bothers me he will put me on prescription one, but wanted to try this one first because it is cheaper and more accessable. I started the Aleve before the patch and every time I take one I get nauseous right away, so I know it is Aleve. Once he changes we will see. Sorry to hear about your back.
