Guest guest
Hi , When I have flares, my stomach/abs bloat really bad. Sometimes this bloating last for up to 10 days (after the horrible pain is gone) when I have had a really bad flare What is funny is that after being in the hospital, I usually lose 10 pounds, but because of the bloating, I look like I gained 20 pounds! Just curious on this...does your Doctor want to push on your tummy/abs while having an attack...I refuse because it is so painful, even for him to listen with a stethescope. Ok...now the hormone thing. I also find this subject very interesting. I have endometriosis. The pain that comes with the monthly flow doesn't hold a candle to the acute pancreas pain flares. My Doctor thought there was a connection, but I had acute flares and ended up in the hospital at very different time of my cycle, besides, at first I really didn't want him thinking it was just a female problem and write me off... and the flares didn't seem to follow my cycle. But I am coming around, and I am beginning to see that there is a link. I wish I could find this article again, but I read an article that a women had pancreatitis masquerading as endometriosis. She had endo growing on her pancreas causing acute flares. My Doctor has called for a surgical consult just about everytime I end up in the hospital, but the surgeons always say that there isn't a succifient reason to open me up and explore. My Doctor and Mom seem to think that maybe I have endo growing on my pancreas. I am swaying that way too. My hormones were way out of whack when I was last admitted to the hospital...my cycle started the day before, and although it was light flow, it lasted for 2.5 weeks! Just about as long as the acute flare of at least 8 on a pain scale lasted. Umm...? I enjoy your post...thanks for letting me think out loud. It sure helps to share and read others experiences. I hope to check up on this hormone discussion, but I am headed to Iowa by plane in the morning for my Grandma's funeral. Be back on Tuesday. Wishing all of you pain free days.
