The 50mcg patch works well now that I am on a 2 day change schedule. Yet, I find myself taking the percocet (10/325) more often. I have been on the 50mcg for 1 1/2 years now. Walt, It's me again. Perhaps it's time to talk to your doctor about an increase to 75 mgs. with your duragesic. I had to do that after my last attack in October '03. By upgrading from a 50 mg. patch to a 75 mg. I cut down my breakthrough meds by half, if not more. I was also taking the Percocet 10/325's with the 50 mg. duragesic, but I'd gotten so that I was taking 2 of them every 4 hours, all day long. Now that I'm up to a 75 mg. duragesic, I take one or two (sometimes) 5 mg. oxycodone a day, and there's many days when I don't need any breakthrough meds at all. Just a suggestion that worked for me, that you might talk to your doctor about. I was happy to get totally away from the heavy Percocet usage, my last ultrasound showed that my liver was slightly enlarged from an earlier scan, and that's all the evidence we needed to discontinue the Percocet because of the tylenol content.
