Guest guest
Chrissy - I am glad you are doing so well. Did I miss the post where you explained what all was done in your surgery? Also, what is a " peg " ? Cecilia Mesa, AZ
Guest guest
Jean, one of our members, Peg, raised some money to help her son have the pancreatectomy. Maybe you can ask her if she can recommend fundraising ideas for you and your daughter to help pay for the surgery. Her full name is Peg Bates. I don't remember her email address though. I took your advice and gave myself a day off yesterday. A friend had invited Austin over for the day and overnight and to go bowling. They asked me to go along for the bowling, too, but I declined, thinking that even that might be a little more activity than I needed right now. So I stole the afternoon to do nothing whatsoever, and went down to the dock with a book, the radio and a huge drink cooler filled with raspberry tea. We've got a nice lounge chair down there, an outside shower and an umbrella for shade, if wanted. I use a crab cage as a side table to the lounge chair. It only took me about 10 minutes and I fell asleep.....must be the Neurontin, or perhaps I needed it, I still don't sleep well at night! It's not quite as soothing as the beach with the ocean waves making their own music, but it's close. There was quite a bit of boat traffic early in the afternoon, people heading to our Bluffton sand bar, but that quieted down later in the day and then the dolphins came up the river to feed, just a few feet from the dock. There were three in one group and then later, two females guarding a baby came along behind them. We see them all the time where we are, but I never tire of watching them! I took a lazy swim and then came up to the house and showered. Even though they said the heat index was supposed to be 105 degrees, it didn't feel that bad and I did feel well rested. All the pancreas uproar was settled down. It's strange that I'm getting these one day, fierce episodes. Usually they last several days....but I'm not complaining, LOL! I may do the same thing again today, since there aren't any father's here at home to celebrate their day with. is in Oklahoma, Bob is flying, and my dad's up in Lake Placid. The cards were sent, and the phone calls will be made, but otherwise, no celebration here. I bought Bob a large, two door storage cabinet for his new workshop. Since the garage/ workshop/greenhouse was finished last month he's gone out and bought himself a lot of new " tools " , but no place to neatly store them. I thought that would help keep the place neat and tidy.....hahaha......he's not much for picking up things once he gets them out. He's got so many tools and things in his truck box that once that's cleaned out, we could probably furnish a full hardware store! Since we didn't have a place to keep them before, everything ended up in the truck box, and there's tools and " stuff " in the bottom of it that haven't been seen in years. It got so bad that when he needed something, instead of digging down through all the stuff in there, he'd run over to Home Depo or Ace Hardware and just buy a new one! Didn't mean to get off topic....you can see that I'm feeling more chipper today. Thanks for understanding. I hope your day is going well, too. Thinking good thoughts, Heidi Heidi H. Guest guest
chrissy, thanks. my back is slowly getting better, but I had a very bad week this week. Lots of pain, diahrea and fatigue. Yes, I did have lot of fun on my trips, only I think I'm paying for them now. Everything I eat comes right back out again. I'm drinking a lot of Smart Water to give me the electrolytes and minerals that I need, though. So, I do know what you mean about trade offs. Kimber -- Kimber Vallejo, CA hominid2@... It doesn't take much for the power to go. Chrissy, Did you lose your power? Everybody here was all worked up, anticipating the wind, the rain, flooding and loss of power.....and it slid right by us without much fuss. The wind chimes were kicking up some fast melodies this morning, but that was about the extent of it and now the sun's shining and it looks glorious outside. I spent yesterday afternoon moving all our chaise's off the dock, taking down the flag and the umbrella and securing everything in sight. The dockhouse was full to the roof by the time I was done, and we had the boat already out of the water. I'm so thankful that we didn't have any problems and no evacuations for us this time. I was alone this time and not looking forward to having to do the evacuation drill all by myself. My aunt and uncle live down in Ft. Myers and I'm worried about them, there's been no word, so hopefully that's good news! There's always another one around the corner, right? I'm sorry that you've been feeling so tired and down in spirit. Go out and enjoy this sunshine and get your mind away from worries. When does start at COC? With love, hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Guest guest
Chrissy, When it rains, it pours, huh? I am sorry to hear about Maddy's accident. We had a similar experience at 's 5th birthday party. It was at a nearby park. He was running, fell, and threw his arms out to catch himself. He broke one of his arms very badly. Despite all the trauma he had been through in his life, I freaked out. I think because this was so unexpected, and everything else we had been through was par for the course. Anyway, left his birthday party in an ambulance. Luckily, it happened towards the end of his party anyway. Kim C.
Guest guest
Hi Chrissy, Still thinking of you & Madison.... Despite your woes with he, I thought your morphine story was funny. acted similar to that twice (one time before surgery when they gave his something & another time when he broke his arm & they gave him something). It was very amusing to watch him act drunk. At least it makes them happy! Kim C.
Guest guest
Hi Chrissy! God luck with Maddy, I myself had nursed a few patients with TPN and I know how essential it is. Guest guest
That's great Chrissy! It sounds like things are looking up for you & Maddy. And 6 lbs. in a month? That almost sounds like magic for our kids! Kim C. > Maddy went to see her GI doc today ( this is the doc here in Philly > that > used to work in NY with Dr. H) > Turns out Maddy is up to 24lbs 6oz. Guest guest
The only negative to being at Cornell is the lack of refrigerator in the room! But I'll stock up on those tuna packs that you liked. And, ugh, diet ginger ale. Even the M & Ms. You will NOT starve if Jodie Cals and I can help it! (But this time you are also getting fresh fruit and veggies.) Jodi Z
