Debbie,I was an avid coffee drinker. A 6 cup/morning was not uncommon for me.

No matter what the latest diet I was trying,I always had my coffee. It was

dearer to me than food,if you can imagine that one. I was a member of

Gevalia's coffee of the month, and slurrped many a pot on nightshift. I

decided to give it up because of the tanic acid and hyperirritability of my

stomach. I told myself that this surgery was about change, and in order to

protect this tiny, delicate stomach I had to give it up. I knew by weaning

pre-op I'd have the luxury of taking motrin or tylenol for the headaches from

caffiene withdrawal. Post-op I would have some post-op pain,as well as a

severe headache. I took 1 weekend and did a major " cold-turkey " wean from the

bean. I also had a cold that weekend(sinus headache) and worked 40 hours in 2

days. I also wrote goodbye letters to my kids. Talk about a BAD weekend!!!

Anyway,that Monday I was decaffinated,dehydrated(tears and post-drainage) and

tired. But I was liberated. It was gone! It was a big step for me,and

honestly didn't think I could do it. Now when I taste it,it just doesn't feel

right. I avoided carbonation, because of I heard it caused the stomach to

expand. Was never that crazy about it to research beyond that. I like being

" almost " without vice(grin).
