Guest guest
Welcome to the group Lori, << I just started this diet with my son who is 11 ASD, been GFCF and chicken egg free for years. He doesn't have diarrhea problems, but is very yeasty (itchy, gassy, stimmy, and reflux) and has malabsorbtion issues. ... I took him off of the pro-bio gold, so I need to replace his probiotics with another one that has no dairy, gluten, egg, or sugars!>> You can find some dairy free probiotics at: http://pecanbread.com/probiotics.html#brands Both the Kirkmans's probiotic and The GI ProHealth probiotics are dairy-free. << Tomorrow is day 3, so I was wondering if he could have a steak or some roast? Stage 1 just says 'meat', boiled or broiled (is broiled close enough to grilled?) >> Plain steak or roast would be fine to try next. Broiled is close enough to grilled - essentially allows the excess fat to drip away from the meat. << How long do I stay in stage 1? He is really wanting his raw carrots and salad greens. >> If he is still symptomatic ( " itchy, gassy, stimmy, and reflux " ) then you may need to stay with cooked and peeled for a while longer. You really want to " clear the decks " and you'll do this by giving him easy to digest foods. Can you hide some cooked veggies in with ground grilled meats. Last night I made up a meatloaf with cooked veggies, an egg and ground meat. I took some of it since there was too much for the pan and fried it up as a burger. << Also, I made the homemade applesauce with the Fuji apples I had on hand. All of the kids hated it. Does the type of apple make a difference? I bought some golden delicious today?>> Yes, diffferent apples have varying levels of sweetness. Do your kids like applesauce normally? Some kids just don't like it and it may have nothing to do with the taste or texture. You may have better luck though using a mix of sweet apples (Golden and red delicious along with Fuji) instead of just one variety. My kids don't like their applesauce too sweet and like it made with McIntosh apples. For regular eating they prefer the golden and red delicious. Guest guest
Thanks Sheila! I will try sneaking the veggies into some hamburger patties. He is very symptomatic today and I am hoping it is die off and not issues with a meat only diet? I will order his probiotics today and try some new applesauce. Maybe I will try the pear sauce instead - he used to eat that before. Thanks so much - You are a life saver!!!
