Guest guest
Dear Colleagues, The National Association of Area Agencies on Aging (n4a), in collaboration with NCFHs mutual partner, Consumer Reports Best Buy Drugs, has developed a Prescription Drug Options for Older Adults Toolkit for professionals for use to encourage patients to take an active role in their health care by being smart prescription drug consumers. While the toolkit was designed primarily for use by Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) and Title VI programs, we believe it may be of interest to you in your work with health center patients. While the n4a materials are not available in Spanish, we have read them carefully and find them to be easy to read and at a literacy level that is appropriate for many of our C/MHC patients. Our recommendation is that they be used in conjunction with patient/health center staff to reinforce health education messages around use of medications. http://www.n4a.org/programs/best-buy-drugs/?utm_source=ncfh & utm_medium=enews & utm_content=april & utm_campaign=ncfh%2Benews The Toolkit is divided into the following sections:: · Introduction: Taking an Active Role in Your Health Care · Section 1: Talking with Your Doctor – First Steps in Managing Medications · Section 2: Taking Prescriptions Faithfully – Tips for Effective Prescription Drug Use · Section 3: Generics – Dispelling the Myths · Section 4: Getting the Best Value for Your Prescription Drugs · Glossary · Key Resources The sections are available for individual download or as one consolidated document. To view the n4a Toolkit, please visit: http://www.n4a.org/programs/best-buy-drugs/?utm_source=ncfh & utm_medium=enews & utm_content=april & utm_campaign=ncfh%2Benews We hope this information will be useful to your staff for their utilization with patients as a tool in their health education endeavors. This information is brought to you as a result of a partnership between the National Center for Farmworker Health and Consumer Reports Best Buy Drugs. As always, we appreciate your feedback regarding the usefulness of this information.
