" Books " ? The book you need is Breaking the Vicious Cycle but much of the information is available free on the two websites on your welcome message: www.pecanbread.com www.breakingthevicouscycle.info > For those with yeast overgrowth... " It is wise to cut back on honey ingestion at the beginning of the dietary regimen (amount of honey in recipes should be decreased by at least 75%). The amount of honey may be increased as the condition improves. " (quote taken from BTVC) We have found that using some form of probiotic is also helpful. Probiotics can take the form of yogurt (made from goat, cow or nut milk), other fermented foods (such as HOMEMADE sauerkraut or kimchi) or probiotic powder or capsules (in case the child is not yet ready for any yogurts). Ensuring that all vegetables and fruits foods are peeled and cooked at the beginning is also helpful in controlling yeast overgrowth. Undigested foods can feed microbes and delay healing. The use of anti-fungals may be necessary. Some natural anti-fungals include: homemade carrot juice and garlic, oil of oregano, grapefruit seed extract (GSE) with or without enzymes. Some decide to go with prescription anti-fungals such as Nystatin. If using both a probiotic (or yogurt) and an anti-fungal, be sure to give them at separate times in order to preserve the live beneficial bacteria. Carol F. Guest guest
Welcome to the group Christy, > Hi everyone I'm new! I am going to order the books listed on > the site and begin to go slow and easy. Here is some info for getting started on the diet: http://pecanbread.com/foodprep.html#transition http://pecanbread.com/foodprep.html#intro http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info/beginners_guide/beginners.htm http://pecanbread.com/foodprep.html#menu http://pecanbread.com/foodprep.html#homemade Since you are dealing with yeast please check out " Yeast and SCD " at http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/pecanbread/files/ I took Nystatin for a while but started having diarrhea and had to stop. I rotated some of the natural antifungals listed at the above link along with an enzyme that targeted yeast. I used Candizyme because I found it locally (I live in Canada). There are a number of enzyme options for yeast. I found this approach gentler and more effective than the nystatin (my yeast got worse with nystatin). > I also need advice on starting > new multi vitamins. Chewable multivitamins generally have added sweeteners and other illegals so they are illegal. Some legal multivitamins can be found at http://pecanbread.com/supplements.html The " SCD Multivitamin " can be found at http://www.lucyskitchenshop.com/freedavitamins.html You can grind up the SCD multi from Lucy's shop at put it in homemade applesauce, water or legal juice. You may also be able to grind up some of the other legal multis, but I have only ground the SCD (freeda) multivitamin.
