Guest guest
I can only tell you that this sweetener would definitely not be legal on SCD. Patti Erythritol? Anyone heard of this? I was browsing a website looking for no added sugar freeze dried strawberries when I came across Erythritol. I'd never heard of it before. Have you? Is this a new product? I couldn't find it on the legal/illegal list. *Erythritol is the world's first all-natural non-calorie bulk sweetener. Eridex is manufactured in a process by which a glucose- rich substrate is fermented and crystallized at a high purity rate. The resulting product is similar in appearance and characteristics to sucrose, but offering only about 70% of the sweetness. Guest guest
Yes. It's a sugar alcohol, and bad ju-ju as far as SCDers are concerned. WE can't digest it, but the bad bugs in our guts sure can, and will, and will keep us sick. Sugar alcohols often cause diarrhea in normal people. Imagine what evil they could do for those of us with gut problems! (It's too bad, too, because a legal solid sweetener with the same bulk as sugar would make translating so many recipes much easier.) -- Marilyn (New Orleans, Louisiana, USA) Undiagnosed IBS 25 Years, SCD Five Years Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund
