Guest guest
Hi, love that nickname!!!! I am new this year to the support group and wanted to let you know that I have had the same results from MRCP's and ERCP's. Last year I had 2 MRCP's spaced 3 weeks apart because they both showed a 3mm stone in the distal common bile duct. It made sense to me that that was why I was having pain again only 5 months after a sphincterotomy. So I go back to a specialist in PA and he does an ERCP to clear the duct of the stone, only he finds nothing when he performs it. I was totally confused why I kept showing a stone on the films and then they could find nothing. I then had another MRCP 2 months later and it still showed a 3mm stone in the bile duct. My family doc said that I am probably producing small stones within the duct (I don't have a gallbladder) and then they are spontaneously passing . It sort of makes sense. I ended up needing another sphincterotomy on my panc duct and also widening of the bile duct too so small items can pass with hopefully not too much pain. Unfortunately I still have pain and now it is everyday. I believe you asked about pain meds and what some of us are taking??? I currently take Demerol w/phenergan capsules 2-4 times a day. Two on a good day and more on bad days. I also supplement with oxycotin 20mg for breakthrough pain (pain in between the 4-6 hours for taking the demerol). I have been having a few rough days so I have had to take the oxycotin and I absolutely hate taking it because it makes me itch and gives me mood swings. But if I want to be pain free for a couple of hours then I try to just deal with it. I hope you find a good doc soon. I know too well how hard it is to find a really good doctor who deals with pancreatitis patients. I only wish I knew about this board a couple of years ago. It wouldn't have taken me so long to find a good doc then. But then again, hind sight is wonderful LOL . I hope you are feeling better today. Take care Kris in TN
