I was looking up information on this new medicine & it seems that it

inhibits the release of human growth hormone, so it is used for

tumors & growths. I visited several sites, but I found this one to

be the most helpful..I wanted to share it in case anyone else is

interested.

Deanna -

I am on sandostatin LAR 30 mcg every 28 days because it decreases the

production of pancreatitic enzymes so my defective duct (only the minor papilla

is

hooked up and working - pancreas divisum) doesn't have to work so hard.

I know several people are on it that have cancer. It is used somehow to

suppress tumor growth, I believe.
