I was told that the smell is just part of

it; I have yet to find any other shampoos or anything that eliminates it. Thank

goodness my sons doesn’t reek too bad, but it has an interesting aroma to

it. I just try and find a little humor in it and have sort of learned to accept

it.

Subject: Daughters band

is smelly!

My daughter has had her DOC band for about 3 weeks

now. She is a warm blood child and sweats a lot, especially at night. We bathe

her every night and clean the band with the alcohol as the techs suggests. I

know we aren't suppose to use any lotions or powders but was curious if anyone

had suggestions on how to reduce the smell in the band. Is their a shampoo that

works better, scented or unscented? I'm really looking for any suggestions.

Thanks!

I was told putting the band in the sunshine for the hour a day you have it off

will help with the smell. My daughter has only had hers for a week and

fortunately we aren't dealing with a smell yet.

Good luck!

Try the childrens shampoos made by L'Oreal or Suave.  There are many good scents to choose from and it really helps with the smell.

We were told by the CT techs to use 90% alcohol. The 70% thats normally picked

up by people has more water and less alcohol in it. CVS carries it with the

other alcohols- has a read label. Have a warm blooded child also and we haven't

had to switch to any special shampoos or anything- the 90% made all the

difference- we clean her helmet anytime she gets really sweaty, and in the

morning when we take it off to put on her shirt, and then again at night when

she's in the bathtub.

Hope that helps!
