Guest guest
Hi there- First of all, Mila is adorable! And you did a great job capturing your repo progress. I see a significant difference between the 6 week and 16 week photos. So you are definitely doing something right! I would probably categorize her plagio as mild at this point. If she is only 4 months old, I really think you could try repo for at least another month, maybe 2 before making a final decision to band or not. I would keep at it with repo until you feel you aren't seeing anymore improvement from it (it usually peters out by about 6months). Then reassess. Keep us posted! If all goes well, it will be great to have your before and after photos in our Repositioned Babies photo folder! Good luck! Jake-3 (DOCBand Grad 9/08) > > My baby Mila is almost 4 months old and we feel that we should probably decide soon whether or not to get a band for her. We have been doing aggressive repositioning and she has been through physical therapy. She wasn't diagnosed with torticollis, but had to work out some tightening in her upper back / shoulder blade area on one side as a result of having mild shoulder dysplasia during delivery. I was wondering if any of you would be willing to take a look at her photos and share your thoughts about the progress she has made so far. It's hard to determine if she might round out enough on her own with continued repositioning, without a band. I'd really appreciate any input based on your observations. Guest guest
Hello. Since your asking for multiple opinions, I must say I agree with everything has said below. First, you certainly have done a tremendous job with the repo and the results are incredible. Secondly, I strongly agree with 's advice to give it one or two more months. My only other suggestion would be JUST IN CASE, you could begin discussing this with Mila's ped doc, if you haven't already. Just from my experience, doc looked at our daughter at 4 month appointment, suggested repo, tummy time, etc. for 2 more months, and then wrote the referral at 6 months. By the time, we got an appointment (Cranial Tech), made a decision, got another appointment for the DSI (pictures) and then our daughter was " banded " another month had gone by. You don't say if your doc is on board with banding or not. All I'm saying, is that you don't want to wait until the last possible minute and then spend another 2 - 3 months fighting it out with the docs, trying to get appointments, etc. So again, my only other recommendation is to make sure, IF you have to go to plan B, that everything is in place when you're ready to make that decision. Congratulations on Mila's progress thus far! You are doing a tremendous job and I wish you well!! Guest guest
Thank you both so much for taking time to view Mila's pics and share your thoughts. Thank you also for the positive feedback about the repositioning we've been doing. It is good to hear that you would probably categorize her as mild at this point. I think the idea of waiting at least another month seems like a good one... I had been operating under 'the earlier the better' mindset, but another month or so might help make the decision more clear. Jo Anne, I appreciate your point about making sure to start getting things in place JIC. We have been working with the pediatrician on this since Mila was 6 weeks old. The ped seems to take a pretty neutral stance. Not pushing the band or steering us away from it. She was the one who referred us to physical therapy and she knew we were doing the repositioning, so she said that we would see where things are at when Mila has her 4 month visit. Which is a couple weeks from now. When I saw the ped last she thought Mila's head was starting to look better and she predicted that she probalby wouldn't need a helmet. I will keep the repositioning work up and see where things stand in a month or so. Thanks again!! > > > > > > My baby Mila is almost 4 months old and we feel that we should probably decide soon whether or not to get a band for her.
