Guest guest
Here's what I dont understand. If a child is diagnosed with plagio at two or three months old, why does it take months and sometimes over a year in a helmet to correct it, when it only took a couple months to get that way in the first place? I understand that the bones are softer at two or three months old, but a baby in a helmet for say six months or a year, does a lot of growing in that amount of time. has been in his helmet for almost three months now. We were told that it would probably be about three to four months total when we started this. But I have this fear that when the four months is up that I will be told that he needs it much longer. We have an appt tomorrow with the craniel doc to check on the indentation that still exists on the back of his head.Other than that dent, his head is rounded nicely. Of course if he needs longer treatment, that wont be a problem, its just that i miss his little head so much that I cant wait to get that helmet off for good. Guest guest
Sometimes plagio/ tort can start in utero. My daughter dropped at 30 weeks and Cranial Technologies said her plagio definanetly started in utero.(they can tell by the shape of the head)The other factors are how severe the plagio is and how early you start the band.My daughter started her band at 3 months and should not have to wear it longer than 3 months. The earlier the band is put on the quicker the results usually.I hope the appointment goes well. Mom of a beautiful banded baby girl > > Here's what I dont understand.
